This coming Saturday, at St. Andrew’s United Church, Northland Wrestling presents the NRGY Pro Wrestling Academy Showcase III. The start time for this event is 6 pm.

The card at Odyssée drew more than 400 people, an attendance record for Northland.  This is a slightly different style event although Pigozzo says it does not lack star power.

“This is a much smaller event as maximum capacity is 200,” says Piggozzo.  As of late Thursday afternoon, 140 of those tickets were sold,” says Pigozzo.

“The event showcases the local talent that has all been trained by me over the last year to year and half. The ages of the students range from 17 to 44,” says the wrestler turned (mainly) promoter.

For the fans Pigozzo will be bringing in some ‘name’ talent.

“To add a little “star power”, established wrestlers like Nova will be in action as well as the sons of WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley, collectively known as TNT. This marks TNT first Canadian appearance,” says Pigozzo.

When Pigozzo looks at the big picture this is what he hopes to map out for Northland Wrestling.

“All I’m focusing on is Northland and just staking my claim in the area,” says Pigozzo.  “This is my area, we are Northland, we are building, we are getting stronger.
I have put a lot of money into the production and the look of the show,” remarked Pigozzo.

Like the billion-dollar wrestling companies, the Northland promoter wants fans to see storylines involving the wrestlers as they perform in a series of shows.

“We try to keep continuity to it (the shows) and our fans respond to that and it brings them back for more,” says Pigozzo.  “They want to see this guy against that guy.”

After Saturday’s smaller scale event a major Northland Wrestling Card returns to Odyssée on May 6th.

That event is titled “Next LVL” and the headline match is The King of The North Championship as Jon Gonzalez defends against “Asylum” Nick Andrews.  The highlight for many will be a steel cage match.
